Dr Sarah Fisher is Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Cardiff. Before joining Cardiff, she was a Fellow in Philosophy with the Digital Speech Lab. Her work encompasses the philosophy of mind and language, with applications to issues in ethics and in social and political philosophy. Within the philosophy of language, she has worked extensively on linguistic framing and contextual effects on meaning. She is currently developing papers on how platforms should moderate ambiguous speech, among other collaborations with members of the Lab. Her publications have appeared in Philosophy Compass, Synthese, Inquiry, and The Review of Philosophy and Psychology.
Dr Fisher holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Reading, an MSc from the University of Edinburgh, and a BA from the University of Oxford. Before coming to UCL, she worked at the University of Vienna. She also has a decade of public policy experience in central government, local government, and social research.
